Former Maynard Ferguson musical director and pianist Christian Jacob has composed, performed and orchestrated original music for the new film, Sully. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Sully is based on Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s courageous aircraft landing on the Hudson River.

Christian worked with his long time band which includes two more MF Band alumni: Drummer Ray Brinker and Bassist Trey Henry. The trio originally met on Maynard’s band and then formed their own trio in Los Angeles. Christian, Trey and Ray then formed a second group with vocalist Tierney Sutton (The Tierney Sutton Band) which has been touring and recording for twenty plus years. It turns out that Clint Eastwood was a fan of the band and asked if they would score the music for his latest film Sully.

Clint Eastwood has always loved jazz and the band clearly felt like Clint became their newest bandmate. Maynard would have loved hearing all this. The movie soundtrack for Sully has just been released and features their entire score with beautiful orchestrations by Christian Jacob, improvisations by the TSB and musical collaborations with Clint Eastwood that includes lyrics by Tierney Sutton.

The soundtrack is available now on iTunes.
